Overhead Environment Courses

Diving into an overhead environment, such as a cave or wreck, requires special training since an immediate ascent to the surface is no longer an option due to the presence of a physical ceiling. When divers discuss overhead diving they are typically referring to either cave diving or wreck diving. For BJL Diving, this is our favorite type of course to teach! There is something exhilarating about going and exploring where few people, or even noone, has been before. This is the pinnacle of diving and one of our true passions!

Cave Diving:

Wreck Diving:

This type of SCUBA diving training requires precision in trim, buoyancy control, and propulsion techniques for both the safety of the diver and protection of these extremely fragile environments. We strongly recommend that you complete an Intro To Tech or a Technical Foundations course before starting any overhead environment training. You will not be successful in your overhead course without solid fundamentals as we can’t progress to the more advanced skills until the basics have been mastered.
